2022 DEIS Graduate Fellowship Winners

Below are the 2022 fellows:

Aritra Das

Aritra Das was born in West Bengal, India in 1994. He received his M.S.-(R). degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar in 2020. He is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in high voltage engineering with the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Rupnagar, India. His research interests include high voltage testing techniques, measurements, and condition monitoring of power system apparatus, especially locating short-circuited faults and weaker sections caused by partial discharge and electrothermal heating in a long cable

Project Title: “Location of Damaged Insulation for an Underground Power Cable in High-Frequency Model”

Zhifei Han

Zhifei Han (S’19) was born in Shanxi province, China in 1996. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2018. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University. His research mainly focuses on advanced sensors for power system and insulation equipment monitoring.

Project Title: “Surface Acoustic Wave Technology for Online Monitoring of Insulator Electric Fields”

 Rohith Sangineni

Rohith Sangineni (S’19) was born in Telangana, India in 1996. He received his BTech degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Puducherry, India, in 2017. He is currently pursuing his PhD degree from the School of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Guwahati. He is a recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship to pursue PhD. His research interests include condition assessment of liquid dielectrics, dissolved gases in insulating oils and partial discharge in alternate liquid dielectrics. He is a student member of IEEE as well as a member of DEIS and PES.

Project Title: “A Robust, Cost-effective, Portable and Non-Invasive Device for Condition Assessment of Liquid Insulation”

 Mingcong Yang

Mingcong Yang was born in Hubei province, China in 1997. He received the B.S. degree in chemistry from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2019. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University. His research mainly focuses on high-temperature dielectric material for electronic and power system.

Project Title: “Identification and regulation of interface heterojunctions between high-temperature polymers and inorganic oxides”
