We are pleased to announce the opening of pre-registrations for the 1st Asia Summer School on Dielectric Insulation, organized in the Iceland Hotel, at Sun-island, Harbin, China, at August 7–10, 2025. (https://2025assdi.iceriverbj.com)
This 1st Asia Summer School on Dielectric Insulation will be held just after the 5th IEEE International Conference on Electrical Materials and Power Equipment (ICEMPE 2025) which will be held at August 3-6, 2025, Harbin, China. (http://icempe2025.org)

This 1st Asia Summer School on Dielectric Insulation, fully in English to welcome people from everywhere, intends to train Scientists, Researchers, PhD students, Engineers and Technical staff coming from both Academia (PhD students, MSc students in their final year) and Industry (first 5 years of their career) and all interested in the field of Dielectric Insulation from the fundamental basics to their applications in electrical and electronic engineering.
The 1st Asia Summer School on Dielectric Insulation will be focused on the Space Charge in Dielectric Insulation: measurement, theories and simulation, materials and application, a broad range of sub-topics on the knowledge and frontiers of space charge in composite materials and nanocomposites:
- Space charge measurement basics: PEA method for flat sample
- Space charge signal transport mechanism and data processing
- Space charge measurement method in HVDC cable and its challenge
- Theoretical basics: space charge transport mechanism and relevant physical processes
- Modelling and simulation of space charge transport in polymer insulation
- Case studies on space charge and ageing characters in various materials
- Application with space charge measurement on material development and equipment design: from experiments to simulation
Besides providing knowledge and information on space charge in dielectric insulation, the participants will be trained to think using a scientific approach. To make it easier for the students to actively participate in the discussions, the ‘Six thinking hats method’ is introduced. Further, the students will participate in brainstorms and they will use their acquired knowledge in different working groups.
The four-day training of the 1st Asia Summer School on Dielectric Insulation wishes to:
- Extend the young researchers’ Basic Knowledge and Understanding on the ‘Space Charge in Dielectric Insulation’ with presentations from invited professors
- Encourage the young researchers to open their mind to work on specific topics and find proper solutions for the problems with some useful Thinking Skills.
- Build an environment for young researchers with different experiences Working Together on a research question with Divergent Thinking, and get Shared Experience on how to do research and design a scientific research proposal.
- Build continuous Links and Networks between young researchers that may have a chance to work together to solve the problems relevant to the space charge phenomena, even after the Summer School has finished.
We are already pleased to announce our Distinguished Lecturers:
- Prof. Peter Morshuis, Solid Dielectric Solutions, the Netherlands
- Prof. Naohiro Hozumi, Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan
