The IEEE International Power Modulator and High Voltage Conference created two Student Awards, Exceptional Undergraduate Student Award and Outstanding Graduate Student Award, in honor of Dr. Tom R. Burkes, an outstanding professor, a frontier researcher, and a friend to everyone at Texas Tech University (1937-1998). Nominees for both awards must be current students or recent graduates (up to 18 months prior to the conference date) and should be members of IEEE at the time of the award presentation. They will be expected to be participants in the conference and included in the authorship of a paper or papers accepted for presentation at the conference.
-Exceptional Undergraduate Student Award is established to recognize and encourage an outstanding undergraduate student in his/her early career in engineering, science or technology associated with power modulation, power electronics or repetitive pulsed power. In case no suitable candidate is available, this award is presented to a deserving graduate student.
-Outstanding Graduate Student Award is established to recognize contributions by a graduate student in engineering, science or technology associated with power modulation, power electronics, or repetitive pulsed power.
