The WIE (http://wie.ieee.org/) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists and inspiring girls around the world to follow their academic interests to a career in engineering. Under this umbrella, DEIS -WIE strives to facilitate the global recruitment, retention, and communication of women in the dielectrics and electrical insulation fields. Women in Engineering has been recognized as a subcommittee of DEIS AdCom from October 2015.

We are Organizing promoting activities through networking events at DEIS conferences, i.e. CEIDP, ICD… The aim of these events is to help the next generation of female presidents, entrepreneurs, CEOs, vice presidents and engineering community leaders via: Increase the number of women in engineering leadership positions, accelerate and enhance the success of women in engineering leadership positions and establish and maintain a support network for women engineering leaders

Research done in 2013 showed that 6.2% of DEIS society is female, but most of them don’t have enough information about the existence of the WIE organization.

Among several functions and benefits of WIE we should highlight: Organizing networking and technical conferences, helping the development of new programs that promote entry of women into engineering programs, funds and award for study and programs.

We provide a free membership for students who are IEEE members to become a WIE member.

During the short time from the initiation DEIS-WIE has accomplished the outstanding work of our female member within DEIS has been more recognized, we can see more editorial article for insulation magazine, reception for DEIS award, having more image of female engineers at the cover page of DEIS’s magazine will give a good inspiration to the female engineers, Organizing promoting activities (e.g. networking event, lecture …) for the female member of the society to show them support to increase the number of attendee in the society’s conferences.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information

I am looking forward to meeting you during DEIS sponsored conferences.

Best wishes,
